CDE Parent Trainings - 10 Modules

To support parents of students with disabilities in Colorado and their meaningful participation in the special education process, the state legislature passed Senate Bill 24-069 in 2024. The resulting law (Colorado Revised Statues § 22-20-122) required the Colorado Department of Education (CDE) to create, deliver, and make publicly available a training program to present comprehensive information regarding federal and state laws and procedures regarding IEPs, including parent and student rights by June 30, 2026.

The Colorado IEP Parent Training is now available on the CDE website. The ten modules and all related resources can be accessed here.

Training Modules Include:

Heading into summer can feel overwhelming for both kids and parents as the everyday structure of school changes with long summer days. In this training session we’ll review preventative strategies, discuss resources available to parents, and how to look at big challenges and chunk it down into manageable teaching moments
